• For you frugalistas out there, use the waxed paper liners of cereal boxes. After rinsing and drying, use them to pound meat or chicken cutlets and then bread the meat in the same bag afterward.

• How many calories are in an egg?

  Based on one fresh egg, the calories in an egg are as follows:

  One small egg contains 54 calories.
  One medium egg contains 63 calories.
  One large egg contains 72 calories.
  One extra large egg contains 80 calories.
  One jumbo egg contains 90 calories.
  One cup of raw eggs contains 347 calories.

I've put together recipes using Watkins Snack and Dip Seasonings and Watkins Root Beer Extract. Enjoy!

Seasoned Grilled Steak
1 tsp/5 ml Watkins Garlic Powder
1/4 tsp/1.2 ml Watkins Black Pepper
1/4 tsp/1.2 ml Watkins Paprika
1 tsp/5 ml Watkins Oregano
1/2 tsp/2.5 ml Watkins Red-Pepper Flakes
2 steaks
2 tbsp/30 ml Watkins Original Grapeseed Oil

In a small bowl combine garlic powder, black pepper, seasoning salt, paprika, oregano, and red-pepper flakes. Rub steaks with grapeseed oil, then coat with spice mixture.

Heat grill. Place seasoned steaks on grill, flipping every 5 to 7 minutes until grilled as desired. Serve with sliced potatoes seasoned with onion soup base and grapeseed oil. Clean and slice potatoes. Drizzle with grapeseed oil and sprinkle with onion soup base, salt and black pepper. Seal in heavy-duty aluminum foil and cook over indirect heat on grill for one hour or until potatoes are tender. Garnish with marinated cherry tomatoes.

Grilled Pizza Burgers
1 egg, lightly beaten
3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/4 cup minced fresh parsley or 1 tablespoon Watkins Parsley
3/4 teaspoon Watkins Basil
3/4 teaspoon Watkins Oregano
3/4 teaspoon Watkins Rosemary
3/4 teaspoon Watkins Black Pepper
1 pound ground beef
4 slices provolone or mozzarella cheese
4 English muffins, split and toasted
1/2 cup pizza sauce

In a large bowl, combine the first eight ingredients. Crumble beef over mixture and mix well. Shape into four patties. Grill burgers, covered, over medium heat for 5-7 minutes on each side or until a meat thermometer reads 160 degrees F and juices run clear. Top burgers with cheese; cover and grill 2-3 minutes longer or until cheese is melted. Serve on muffins with pizza sauce. Yield: 4 servings.

Curried Chicken and Tortellini Salad
1 12 to 16-ounce package tortellini or ravioli
1 cooked rotisserie or barbecued chicken
1 bunch scallions
1 cup chopped apples, dried cherries, or dried cranberries or a combination
1/2 to 3/4 cup mayonnaise
1/2 to 3/4 cup frozen peas, thawed
1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon Watkins Curry Powder
salt, to taste
Watkins Black Pepper, to taste

1. Cook the tortellini or ravioli according to package directions. Drain and put into a medium bowl. While the pasta is cooking, remove the skin and bones from the chicken and discard.
2. Cut the remaining chicken meat into bite-sized pieces and add to the pasta. Chop the scallions and add the chopped white part and some of the chopped green stem.
3. Add the fruit, mayonnaise, peas, curry powder, salt, if desired, and pepper, if desired. Mix well. Garnish with remaining chopped green part of the scallions, to taste. Makes a great side dish at a barbecue or picnic.

Blueberry Ice Cream Tart
1-1/2 cups crushed vanilla wafers (about 45 wafers)
1 teaspoon Watkins Ground Cinnamon
1/3 cup butter, melted
1 quart vanilla ice cream, softened
1 can (21 ounces) blueberry pie filling

In a small bowl, combine wafer crumbs and cinnamon; stir in butter. Press onto the bottom of a greased 9-in. springform pan; set aside.

Place ice cream in a large bowl; gently fold in pie filling. Spread over crust. Cover and freeze until firm. Remove from the freezer 10 minutes before serving. Remove sides of pan. Yield: 12 servings.
