When your bananas get too ripe to eat put them in a plastic bag and freeze. You don't even have to peel them! When you want to make banana bread or cookies, thaw and then squeeze the banana out of the peel into your bowl.
I've put together recipes using Watkins Snack and Dip Seasonings and Watkins Root Beer Extract. There are nearly endless recipes using Watkins Extracts and Flavorings. Here are a few for your eating pleasure, Watkins Extract and Flavoring Recipes. Enjoy!
In a large skillet, cook beef over medium heat until no longer pink; drain and set aside. In the same skillet, cook bacon over medium heat until crisp. Remove with a slotted spoon to paper towels to drain. In a large bowl, combine the onion, ketchup, barbecue sauce, brown sugar and molasses. Stir in the beans, beef and bacon. Transfer to a greased 3-quart baking dish. Cover and bake at 350 degrees F for 1 hour or until beans reach desired thickness. Yield 8 servings.
In a large bowl, toss together cucumbers, onion, dill, oil, lemon juice, and vinegar; season with salt and pepper. Serves 8.
Drain pineapple, reserving juice. Cut bacon strips in half; wrap each around a mushroom. On metal or soaked wooden skewers, alternately thread the shrimp, pineapple chunks, tomatoes, sausage, bacon-wrapped mushrooms, onion and green pepper. In a large bowl, combine the barbecue sauce, corn syrup, ketchup, soy sauce, lime juice, maple flavoring, seasonings and reserved pineapple juice. Set aside 2/3 cup for serving. Grill kabobs, covered, over medium heat for 10-15 minutes or vegetables are tender and shrimp turn pink, turning and basting occasionally with remaining sauce. Serve with reserved sauce. Yield: 4 servings.
In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, eggs and almond extract until well blended. Stir in one can of pie filling until blended. Transfer to a 13-in. x 9-in. baking pan coated with cooking spray. Bake at 350 degrees F for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool completely on a wire rack. Dust with confectioners' sugar. Top individual servings with remaining pie filling or whipped topping. Yield: 18 servings.
1/2 cup shortening or butter In a large bowl, cream the shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Combine the flour, baking soda and salt; gradually add creamed mixture, beating just until combined. Stir in bananas. Fold in blueberries. Pour into three greased and lightly floured 5-3/4 x 3 x 2-inch loaf pans or one 9 x 5 x 3-inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees F for 30-35 minutes for small loaf pans or 1 hour 10 minutes for large loaf pan. Bake until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pans to wire racks. Yield: 3 mini loaves or one large loaf.
Preheat oven to 400F/200C. Mix together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, orange peel, salt and butter. Stir in vanilla, cream and walnuts. Drop on baking sheet using a 1/4 cup/60 mL measuring cup. Brush with butter and sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon, if desired. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until brown. Cool shortcakes and cover with strawberries and whipped cream.
Sweetened Strawberries Hull and quarter strawberries, toss in a medium bowl with sugar, let stand at least 20 minutes. Makes 12 biscuits.
